MDG1
Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. Between 1990 and 2015 halve the number of people whose income is less than $1 per day, and halve the number of people who suffer from hunger.
Net2Work operates in areas of need among poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged and persecuted people groups. The programme seeks to empower these people with computer skills, HIV/AIDS and health education, general life skills, and advice on finding work.
MDG2
Achieve universal primary education. Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.
Net2Work is not a substitute for primary education, but Oasis is able to help those who, often through no fault of their own, have not been able to complete their education and find work.
MDG3
Promote gender equality and empower women. Eliminate gender disparity in all levels of education by 2015.
The Net2Work programme is available to women and men and classes are selected to include an even proportion of both. In addition, the life-skills module also advocates gender equality in all aspects of life.
MDG4
Reduce child mortality. Reduce by two thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under 5 mortality rate.
By helping poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged or persecuted people to find work, and by raising awareness of health issues, Net2Work is having a positive impact in this area.
